Voice of the Profession
I have run my own legal practice, Harris Cost Lawyers, for 30 years, and am a recognised expert in the Legal Profession Uniform Law regularly presenting CPDs on the legislation. Many of you have attended one the workshops I run for the Legal Practitioners Liability Committee on estimating costs.
I have worked with the Legal Service Commissioner on regulatory issues, and was recognised by the LIV for my contributions to implementation of the LPUL, with a certificate of service in 2016. I have been an active member of the LIV for more than 30 years, as a member of the Cost Law Section,the Law and Technology Committee and the Advisory Board on Cost Law Specialisation. I am joint editor of Quick on Costs and a member of the Supreme Court Costs Committee which overseas the PRO and scales of costs.
In my consulting practice (Allocatur Consulting/Ovid Consulting), I have advised corporate and government clients on engagement with their law firms and best practice in conduct of legal work. I have given presentations on client relations, legal project management and legal pricing throughout Australia, in the UK and the USA.
